Another Friday! Another Fun Fund Friday! Today I have in my hands a light I bought for myself…. Nostalgia, new emitters,… plenty of reasons. But ultimately it came down to someone (u/tebeve, on reddit) lending me his copy of this light, and me realizing I really wanted to have one of my own. This is a MagLite Micromag, which has been modified by kyfishguy on BLF. The mods are extensive! Read on to see about them, and this light.
Every once in a while someone asks to send an item that I’m very interested in, but ultimately have no real idea how to properly review. Such is the case with this review item. I’m excited to have it, have enjoyed using it, but generally I don’t know how to test it. So this is a review/preview with mostly personal impressions of the Doogee X70.
In for review today is another Imalent, in the style of other Imalent’s I’ve had before (RT35, for example). The RT70 differs from the RT35 though, because while the RT35 was a thrower, the RT70 is much more of a mix/wall-of-light type light. The Cree XHP70 makes that happen. Read on for more!
The BLF GT has become a whole product line for Lumintop. I’ve reviewed a couple already (the BLF GT, and the GT Mini). Here’s the newest iteration, the GT Micro, a 14500 light – basically a very small thrower! Read on to see how it tests.
For the longest time I’ve wanted to try the Dragon driver. Out of all the lights I’ve ever had, I’ve never managed to snag one that came with a Dragon driver. But I did recently get the MechForce MechTorch host, so I went and purchased a Dragon driver with the intention of installing it myself, into this host. You can see from yesterday’s post that this was successful, so now I have a flashlight with a Dragon driver, for testing! Read on for more!
Hi There! I’ll be the second to tell you that I’m probably not qualified to write this post. With that said, I did successfully install…
Today I have for review a bit of a departure from normal Wednesday flashlight reviews. This is indeed a flashlight, but it’s just a host! No guts are in this light (yet). I’ve even mostly covered this light before in the review of the MechForce MechTorch Turbo, but I thought it might be interesting to see this light as a host, since it’s quite a nice host and available for purchase that way.
Early into my interest in cell reviews I was sent a set of Vapcell 18350 liion cells. My ways and means are different now, and LiIonwholesale agreed to send me a fresh set for testing. So here’s another test of these well-regarded 18350 cells, this time with actual discharge (etc) data! Who knows, in another year maybe my testing will have evolved so much further that these cells deserve another look!
I’ve reviewed a bunch of Nitecore lights, but somehow this little headlamp slipped under the radar. Nitecore reached out, and soon this diminutive three emitter, high CRI, lightweight headlamp was in my hands! This is my kind of light, so I’m interested to see if it’s any good!
I’ve had the BLF GT for quite some time (it’s my oldest “review” piece, purchased way back in 2017). But I think this light is interesting enough that it bears having a look! I hope you don’t already know all you need to know about this >2000m thrower, and that this post will be interesting. Read on!
Up for review today is a neat light by Astrolux, sent to me by BangGood. This is the FT02, a 21700 cell thrower with a Cree XHP35 HI. Notably it has charging, and is available in a neutral tint. Read on to see how it tests!
Here’s another cell review! This time it’s a Molicel/NPE, distributed by LiionWholesale. This is a high current (35A), middle capacity (3000mAh) 20700 lithium ion cell. Read on for testing!
I have a fairly long history of liking lights by Rofis. [Here are some other reviews.] This is a new little light by Rofis, which uses a built in 10180 cell, has on-board charging, and a very unusual switch. It looks like it might be something else but ultimately it’s just a capacitive switch. Read on for more thoughts and info!
There was a group buy organized on reddit of this special run of the Aurora series… It was this Nichia version, with a modified UI. I got my copy recently and I’ve been playing with and testing it. It’s similar enough to the older ones that this review will be brief[er] on text, but with description of differences.
Illumn dropped this little mobile phone adapter in a recent package, and I wanted to give it a quick look. I can’t test it fully,…
I reviewed a few lights for RovyVon, and one of those was the E300S. That light has Cree XP-G3, one of my least favorite current emitters, and after the input from my review (and let’s be humble, probably other sources), RovyVon released a Nichia option! This review is largely the same as that original, with the main difference being the emitters.
Banggood asked if there was anything I’d like to review. I have been interested to see what Rey has done with the newer Pineapples, and so they sent the Pineapple Update. I reviewed the original Pineapple. I liked the original Pineapple! Let’s see how this one’s improved!
Today I have another cell for review. This is a Molicel/NPE 21700 LiIon cell, capable of 45A (forty five amps) continuous discharge! As always, click…
