Versions
Quite a few versions of the Kansept Pretatout flipper knife are available. It’s available in carbon fiber (seen here) or G10. G10 offers many colors. There’s a Micarta version, too! Blade finishes, colors, and metal options are among the choices.
Price
The Kansept Pretatout flipper knife ranges from around $94 (as the model shown here) up to $228 (Damascus blade and titanium handles).
Note that on this and many Kansept knives, there’s an option for shipping from a US warehouse! So, regardless of any other issues, these knives are already inside the USA and can be shipped without any fuss.

Look
I’m a big fan of carbon fiber, and on the Kansept Pretatout flipper knife, there’s a good bit of carbon fiber! It’s neat, too, as it has grooves for both grip and to further show off the carbon fiber detail.
The blade has a sort of “nail nick” – there’s undoubtedly a better (or “actual”) name for this groove, but for now let’s just look at how neat it looks!
When closed, the blade shows nicely, and Kansept’s logo is visible.
There’s very minimal branding, but you can see the Mkaxrom design and model name on this side of the blade.
Open / Close / Lock
The Kansept Pretatout flipper knife is primarily a flipper. The flipper tab is very proud, but also sufficiently flat that the knife can sit upright on the spine. This seems like a minor detail, but I do appreciate it.
Flipping the knife open is easy and rewarding. Again, the tab is plenty big and gives great leverage.
If you don’t want to use the flipper tab (you monster), you can also opt for the ambidextrous thumbstud.
There’s plenty of grip area on the handles. This is an EDC knife, but not really a small EDC knife.
It’s a liner lock, too. I happen to really like liner locks, and this one works just fine.
Build and Feel
Build quality is great, as are all Kansept knives I’ve handled. The blade is perfectly centered.
Kansept doesn’t say what the bearing is, but they typically use ceramic ball bearings, and I have no reason to think went another direction here. The action is very good!
Backspacers are simply standoffs, which give a nice view into the metal liners.
You can also see the metal liners on the back of the knife handles.
Both sides of the pivot screw can be manipulated with a TORX driver.
Inside, you can see that the metal liners are skeletonized.

Above, you can see the Kansept Pretatout flipper knife with the Civivi Elementum in orange G10. I use that knife so much!
Here’s the knife in hand:
Below you can see the Kansept Pretatout flipper knife with the venerable Convoy S2+. The version below is a custom laser-engraved Convoy S2+ host by GadgetConnections.com. I did a full post on an engraved orange host right here! Or go straight to GadgetConnections.com to buy your Convoy S2+ now!
Also in the photo above, my Standard Reference Material (SRM) flashlight is the Hanko Machine Works Trident, an 18350 light. While I have not reviewed or tested the Gunner Grip version seen here, I have tested a Hanko Machine Works Trident Total Tesseract in brass. I love the Trident, and it’s a striking contrast to the inexpensive Convoy S2+, another great SRM.
Steel / Cut / Oats
The Kansept Pretatout flipper knife uses S35VN steel, which is a good choice if you plan to use the knife a bunch! Almost all versions of this knife use S35VN, too, but some of the blades (including this one) are coated, while some are not. The exception to S35VN is the Damascus option.
Kansept has the blade listed as “drop point.” According to coltellimania.com, which produced this image, the Kansept Pretatout flipper knife probably does have a drop point blade or modified clip point. Either way, it’s a great blade shape.
Retention
A pocket clip is included and built into the Kansept Pretatout flipper knife. The clip has two external screws.
The knife carries well, and the clip has good tension.
The clip is not reversible, though, so the knife might not be called “truly” ambidextrous. There’s a big lanyard loop in the tail end, though.
Kansept also included their standard pouch.
Summary and Conclusion
I love the carbon fiber of this knife. That said, there are some fancier options (like titanium handles) and some neat color G10 options. Micarta is great, too! This knife comes in many flavors. The flipping action is fantastic, and the fairly big blade has enough weight to be rewarding to open by flipping. I like liner locks, and this one works well. The Kansept Pretatout flipper knife price is even reasonable!
