Look
You’ll note immediately that the Vosteed Kroc Top Liner-Lock knife has a prominent sheepsfoot blade. It sticks up as a sort of “nose” when the knife is closed. It looks great!
One thing that really doesn’t come across in many of the product photos (including some of the photos in this post) is that the Vosteed Kroc Top Liner-Lock knife is fairly small. I say that as a person who prefers small knives – the Kroc is smaller than you think it will be.
All versions included a handle that has two-tone of one variety or another. The two flavors here are both G10 – green and khaki. But other versions are available that (for example) use aluminum and “ocean Micarta” (and command a premium price!)
Open / Close / Lock
The Vosteed Kroc Top Liner-Lock knife is a flipper mainly. The flip tab is on the spine and not exposed.
For me, this type of flipper is very hard to open.
But the Vosteed Kroc Top Liner-Lock knife is also a top-liner lock, which means a button may be pressed for opening (and is required to be pressed for closing).
Here’s a view of the liner lock engaged with the knife open.
And here you can see that the button presses the liner lock.
I can’t say that the top-liner lock is the most ergonomic action, but I will say I’m pleased that it totally keeps my fingers out of the path of the blade. That’s a huge win for me, and enough to make me like this unlock style, regardless of ergonomics.
Build and Feel
As I stated above, the Vosteed Kroc Top Liner-Lock knife is smaller in hand than it looks in photos. That’s not to say it looks big; it’s just hard to scale properly in photos.
The build and feel are both great. I was skeptical about that inset G10 part of the handle. I thought it would add bulk and make the knife seem unnecessarily too big. But it does not. If nothing else, it adds an edge for grip.
The blade is perfectly centered.
The pivot is a caged ceramic ball bearing. It’s very smooth!
There’s a matching G10 backspacer. It has a bit of design that might add a little grip, too.
One side of the pivot is fixed, but the other is accessible with a TORX screw.
In the flipper area, the blade has some grip. This grip mirrors that of the backspacer.
The scales are fully lined, and the liners aren’t hidden. They play a nice role in the design, as they are as big as the G10, and thus visible on the edges.
Here you can see the metal liners, too.

Above, you can see the Vosteed Kroc Top Liner-Lock knife with the Civivi Elementum in orange G10. I use that knife so much!
Here’s the knife in hand:
Below you can see the Vosteed Kroc Top Liner-Lock knife with the venerable Convoy S2+. The version below is a custom laser-engraved Convoy S2+ host by GadgetConnections.com. I did a full post on an engraved orange host right here! Or go straight to GadgetConnections.com to buy your Convoy S2+ now!
Also in the photo above, my Standard Reference Material (SRM) flashlight is the Hanko Machine Works Trident, an 18350 light. While I have not reviewed or tested the Gunner Grip version seen here, I have tested a Hanko Machine Works Trident Total Tesseract in brass. I love the Trident, and it’s a striking contrast to the inexpensive Convoy S2+, another great SRM.
Steel / Cut / Oats
The Vosteed Kroc Top Liner-Lock knife uses 14C28N steel and a sheepsfoot blade.
If you want more info about 14C28N steel, you can click on KnifeSteelNerds.com. There you will find all of the info!
The blade offers a flat grind and, in this case, a stonewash finish.
According to coltellimania.com, which produced this image, the Vosteed Kroc Top Liner-Lock knife does have a sheepsfoot blade.
Retention
A pocket clip is included. It has two screws (over/under) and is reversible. It allows only tip-up carry.
It’s a very simple clip. If I had to pick something to complain about, it’d be that the clip doesn’t have a dedicated cutout in the scale. I really prefer to see the clip attach area recessed!
A lanyard loop is built into the scales and goes through the backspacer.
The clip is reversible. It appears my model is missing one of the clip screws, but this seems to be intentional – the product photos on Vosteed’s website also have only one screw in the Khaki part of the G10 here. Anyway, if you take the clip off the other side and move it to this side, you’ll be able to use those screws here.
Below you can see Vosteed’s new pouch. This pouch is simpler – just a hook/loop closure, but I prefer it.
Here’s another reason for liking this pouch better: it’s flatter.
Summary and Conclusion
I like the Vosteed Kroc Top Liner-Lock knife quite a bit, in particular because it feels smaller than I thought it was going to be. I like the sheepsfoot blade a lot, and the green and khaki G10 is great. The step-up model with aluminum and a very specialized Micarta looks beautiful, and the cost is fairly reasonable on that model, too. I think the Vosteed Kroc Top Liner-Lock knife is a nice value at $69!
