Vosteed Naga S35VN Knife Review
The Vosteed Naga S35VN knife features a “Spanish Navaja” based design, S335VN steel and a 3.47″ blade. With the flat scales, it carries nicely in a pocket.

Versions
Quite a few versions of the Vosteed Naga S35VN knife are available. Most of them are some type of fancy Micarta, but a couple offer an even fancier type of Micarta. At least three blade finishes are available, too. Satin, Stonewash (seen here) and DLC (black) are available.

All the many versions of Vosteed Naga S35VN knife sell for the same price: $139.

Look
This specific Micarta finish of the Vosteed Naga S35VN knife is called Canyon Current. It’s fantastic! Basically, all the non-Norplex Micarta options have this same “layered but revealed” Micarta.
Here’s something else you might not have guessed just from looking at photos of this knife. The scales are flat. They don’t have a rounded shape. That makes the design interesting.
I suspected that the Canyon Current look was achieved by flat-layered Micarta being ground in such a way as to reveal the layers. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. In this knife, the Micarta layers are not flat. They’re laid down wavy! So when you flat grind a layered material, you get a finish that looks like the Vosteed Naga S35VN knife!
This is all minor news, but I say that to say: I don’t think the design is printed on, and so that you’ll know the scales aren’t rounded.
The blade finish is stonewashed, and that too is fantastic. I even love the blade shape (but more on that one later.)
Open / Close / Lock
The Vosteed Naga S35VN knife offers two means for opening. One of those is this large thumbstud. This has some kind of design to appear as a slider, but it’s just a regular thumbstud (with a cool look).
It’s a big thumbstud on a fairly big knife, so there’s plenty of access.
The thumbstud is on both sides of the blade, too, for great ambidextrous usage.
What I consider the second option for opening the Vosteed Naga S35VN knife is the button lock. Pressing the button lock (which you can see above in profile, and below in front view) releases the blade, which can then be flipped open.
Once locked, the button lock is the only way to release the blade from an open state. The button is just a means to actuate a frame lock, and functions perfectly.
Build and Feel
The build quality is great. My copy has a perfectly centered blade.
Harder to see here but still perfectly centered.
The Vosteed Naga S35VN knife uses caged ceramic ball bearings and has very smooth action.
Only one side of the pivot is adjustable. The other (below) has a blank finish.
The side that is adjutsable uses a TORX screw.
There are two sections of jimping on the spine of the blade.
The blade has a Bowie-like nose. Again, more on that later.
The Vosteed Naga S35VN knife has full metal liners that are not skeletonized. So there’s a ton of stiffness, but no weight reduction from cutouts.
No backspacer is offered, but two standoffs are present.
There’s very minimal branding, including the brand name you can see below.
To summarize, the build quality is great. I’d call this an “unusual design,” but really it’s just unusual for me, since I don’t often carry knives much like this. It’s definitely bigger than I normally mess with, but I do love it!

Above, you can see the Vosteed Corgi V 295 Vanchor lock knife with the Civivi Elementum in orange G10. I use that knife so much!
Here’s the knife in hand:
Below you can see the Vosteed Corgi V 295 Vanchor lock knife with the venerable Convoy S2+. The version below is a custom laser-engraved Convoy S2+ host by GadgetConnections.com. I did a full post on an engraved orange host right here! Or go straight to GadgetConnections.com to buy your Convoy S2+ now!
Also in the photo above, my Standard Reference Material (SRM) flashlight is the Hanko Machine Works Trident, an 18350 light. While I have not reviewed or tested the Gunner Grip version seen here, I have tested a Hanko Machine Works Trident Total Tesseract in brass. I love the Trident, and it’s a striking contrast to the inexpensive Convoy S2+, another great SRM.
Steel / Cut / Oats
The Vosteed Naga S35VN knife uses S35VN steel. The blade has that information.
If you want more info about S35VN steel, visit knifesteelnerds:
They say:
S35VN has good potential hardness, toughness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance. It does not particularly excel in any one category though it is not terrible in any of them either.
Vosteed calls this a “Clip Point” blade, but I really would call it a Bowie.
The blade offers a flat grind and, in this case, a stonewash finish.
According to coltellimania.com, which produced this image, the Vosteed Naga S35VN knife does appear to have at least some type of clip point blade.
Retention
The Vosteed Naga S35VN knife has a paperclip-style pocket clip held in place by one TORX screw.
Retention is fine, as the wire used is quite thick.
The pocket clip can be moved to the opposite side, but it’ll be tip-up carry either way.
Vosteed includes a soft pouch with the Naga.

It’s fairly nice, and certainly protective of the knife.
Summary and Conclusion
I’ve often said that I love smaller knives. This is not a smaller knife, but it’s not just huge. The blade length of 3.47″ is still suitable for EDC in many places, and it’s a generally friendly knife. I might like slightly rounded handles better for improved ergonomics, but I’m impressed with the wavy Micarta and how it looks when ground flat. I also really love many of the finishes, including this “Canyon Current”, but also the “Ivory Drift” and even the plain Micarta. For the price, it certainly brings something interesting to the table!
