Look
The Vosteed Acorn liner lock knife has a very nice look. Maybe a bit on the big or bulky side but it does ride in a pocket very nicely.
The satin blade has a great sheen (or you could go with any of the other three coated versions.)
I’m a Micarta fan, so I appreciate the scales on the Acorn, too.
Open / Close / Lock
I would say the Acorn is primarily a thumb-hole opening knife. You also have the option to use the discrete flipper tab.
Often I find that these flipper tabs are too big or protrude egregiously, but this one fits the knife design nicely.
Flipping via the thumb tab or thumb hole is easy and the action is great. The knife locks open via a liner lock.
I had no issues with lockup on the Vosteed Acorn liner lock knife, and unlocking the knife for closure was simple, too. Liner locks are a personal favorite (probably behind the Axis lock, but definitely before the frame lock.)
Build and Feel
Vosteed promotes the Acorn liner lock knife as being “ergonomic” and I have to say they’re right. The knife fits in hand just properly.
As with most other Vosteeds, this one has caged ceramic ball bearings. The action is very smooth. These bearings combined with the blade weight make the blade fling open very nicely.
The blade is perfectly centered.
There’s no backspacer but the standoffs are sufficient to provide good rigidity.
Above the thumb hole is a bit of jimping.
The Micarta scales are fully lined with metal liners.
Only one side of the pivot screw has adjustments. This one is a bit decorative.
The other side has a TORX adjustment.
There’s minimal branding, all of which is on the blade.

Also above is the Vosteed Acorn liner lock knifebeside a TorchLAB BOSS 35, an 18350 light. I reviewed the aluminum version of that light in both 35 and 70 formats. I also reviewed that specific edition, the “Oveready BOSS FT Collector Vintage Brass” 35. I love it!

Steel / Cut / Oats
Vosteed states the Acorn liner lock knife blade steel is “14C28N.”
Here are the details of that steel:
https://www.materials.sandvik/en/products/strip-steel/strip-products/knife-steel/sandvik-knife-steels/sandvik-14c28n/
Along with that blade steel is a full flat grind and a stonewashed finish. It’s a great combo.
The blade shape is “Drop Point” and one of my favorites! Since we’ve lately seen quite a few variations on traditional shape blades, I’m pleased to say that this drop point seems like a “proper drop point.” and I like that!
In the photo above you can get the best idea of how the satin blade finish looks. This isn’t polished, but it still has a very polished aspect.
Retention
The pocket clip used on the Vosteed Acorn liner lock knife is similar to other Vosteed knives I’ve seen (like the Nightshade.) The pocket clip is a nice deep carry clip. The clip is held in place by two “over/under” TORX screws (around T6, I think).
You can see below that the pocket clip has a nice shoulder and fairly accessible “mouth,” so using the pocket clip is easy.
The pocket clip can go on either side. There are holes on both sides, and the pocket clip is built into the handles. That’s what I prefer. With the Vosteed Acorn liner lock knife, there’s no blank to fill the void of the non-clip side. That’s ok – again this is a sub $50 knife!
You can see it best above – the lanyard hole (near the pocket clip) is lined. That’s a nice touch and will add to the security of an attached lanyard.
A nylon zipper pouch is also included.
Summary and Conclusion
I love the Vosteed Acorn liner lock knife. The “ergonomic” aspect that Vosteed pushes is actually quite true – the Acorn is very comfortable in hand. I like that the knife is low-cost: $50 is a bargain for the Acorn! And if you’re in the market, you really have to consider the Sand version – how fantastic does the blade look on that version?
