Versions

The Mini Korvid exists in so many variations. I count 11 right off, and I am certain there are more. Kansept even has other variations of the Korvid. There’s a Korvid S, Korvid M, Korvid XL, and possibly even a Korvid M+. There are plenty of sizes, finishes, and handle varieties to pick from!

Price

The Kansept Mini Korvid Sand knife specifically sells for $60.

Look

Kansept Mini Korvid Sand knife laid on side

I specifically asked Kansept to send this Sand version of the Mini Korvid. I absolutely love this colorway – I even love the name! So you can guess that I love the look!

The look is “cleaver,” of course. The handels are G10 with a linen finished look and the blade has a stonewashed black coating. It’s a nice looking knife!

You should likely skip directly to the size section of this post first – these photos don’t tell how small this Mini knife is! It’s very small.

Despite being small, the blade is thick! Kansept says 3mm.

You’ll note too that the blade is finished in black stonewash. The blade too, is very nice!

There’s no detent in the blade path.

Open / Close / Lock

Kansept Mini Korvid Sand knife flipper tab

The Kansept Mini Korvid Sand knife is what I consider strictly a flipper. The flipper tab is on the back – you can see it in the photo above. Of course, as this is a cleaver, a good bit of blade sticks out of the handles and pinch-to-open is easy, too.

You might think that for such a small knife, it’ll be hard to open. It’s not! You’ll have to hold it in the “pinch” grip seen below, but once you flip it, it flips open willingly!

Lockup has been very secure for me too. The Kansept Mini Korvid Sand knife is a standard liner-lock knife.

Build and Feel

I said it before in the Shieldon Gambit post, but I love cleavers. That’s odd, for as much as I dislike the (very similar?) Tanto-style. But I am a cleaver fan!

The (small) blade has a good bit of deep jimping. Again, the blade is quite thick!

Kansept Mini Korvid Sand knife spine and metal liners

Below you can see the black metal liners that help keep the knife rigid. These metal liners probably assit with rigidity, but really I don’t imagine anyon’es running this knife so hard they’ll ever face rigidity issues. They have holes for weight reduction, in any case. And they’re probably steel. Unlike the metal scales of the Zombie Green version of the Mini Korvid, the liners on this Sand version are G10.

The blade is nicely centered.

The pivot is TORX on both sides.

There’s no backspacer, but color-matching (with the blade and liners) standoffs are in place.

They’re the same dimensionally, but note that the Zombie Green has metal scales, whereas the Sand uses G10.

Below you can see the Kansept Mini Korvid Sand knife with the venerable Convoy S2+. The version below is a custom laser-engraved Convoy S2+ host by GadgetConnections.com. I did a full post on an engraved orange host right here! Or go straight to GadgetConnections.com to buy your Convoy S2+ now!

Also above is the knife beside a TorchLAB BOSS 35, an 18350 light. I reviewed the aluminum version of that light in both 35 and 70 formats. I also reviewed that specific edition, the “Oveready BOSS FT Collector Vintage Brass” 35. I love it!

Steel / Cut / Oats

154CM steel is used on the Kansept Mini Korvid Sand knife.

Retention

There’s no pocket clip on this tiny knife. You can see the lanyard hole below, though.

Summary and Conclusion

The Justin Koch-designed Kansept Mini Korvid Sand knife is a special little knife. I love small knives, cleavers, and this coated black blade, so this one is a huge win for me. There are so many versions, too, that if you don’t care about this or that aspect of this Mini Korvid, you can certainly find one to love!
