Look
An orange Corgi? Yes, please! This Corgi V knife uses Vosteed’s “Vanchor” type button lock, so it’s different from the previous (three or so) Corgis.
I’ve had a micarta Corgi and a G10 Corgi, but this is my first aluminum. It’s quite nice, but do note that the scales are nearly featureless – very smooth. I like that situationally – I wouldn’t want to be splitting twigs in the field with it, but for slipping in thin pants, it’s great!
There is no detent along the blade pathway to fully open.
Branding on the Vosteed Corgi V knife is minimal. Below you can see the brand name on the blade. That’s It!
Open / Close / Lock
Mainly, the Vosteed Corgi V knife is a flipper. It can be flipped two ways.
The first is what I’d consider a more traditional flipping style. That is flipping with the index finger right over the top of the blade. Note you don’t flip (in this way) via the flipper tab.
When flipping this way, you’ll use these little grippers.
It’s also possible to flip with the “flipper tab” but you’ll more likely use your thumb for that option. (This is my least favorite option for any knife!)
The other way to open the Corgi V is probably the best way. You can disengage the Vanchor lock and flick the blade out with a wrist motion. It’s the same action as you’ve seen all the people open Benchmade Axis locks quickly. It’s very good. Also very quick. And conceivably threatening? Nah…
Notably, the button has action on one side only. But since you’ll squeeze the button (and less “press” the button), you can do this with either hand. Thus, flipping the Vosteed Corgi V knife open is the most simple opening option, and also ambidextrous.
Below you can see the button when the knife is closed.
When the knife is open, this button pops out. I would estimate the travel depth when the knife is open to be over 2mm and under 3mm.
Build and Feel
The Vosteed Corgi V knife is a very straight knife with aluminum scales.
The build quality is very good. But that’s no surprise – all the other Vosteed knives I’ve handled have been great, too. There’s no backspacer here, but the metal scales keep the knife very stiff anyway.
Despite having metal scales, there’s still an inner metal liner.
The blade is perfectly centered.
The blade spine is slightly broken, so it’s not sharp at all. That’s what I’d want, but if you want a knife for striking flint or something, you probably should look at some other knives.

Also above is the Vosteed Corgi V knife beside a TorchLAB BOSS 35, an 18350 light. I reviewed the aluminum version of that light in both 35 and 70 formats. I also reviewed that specific edition, the “Oveready BOSS FT Collector Vintage Brass” 35. I love it!
Steel / Cut / Oats
Vosteed states that the Corgi V knife blade steel is “14C28N.”
Here are the details of that steel:
https://www.materials.sandvik/en/products/strip-steel/strip-products/knife-steel/sandvik-knife-steels/sandvik-14c28n/
Along with that blade steel is a full flat grind and a stonewashed finish. It’s a great combo.
The blade shape is “Drop Point” and one of my favorites!
I think this blade shape is a little different from previous Corgis. I would call this a “more drop point” blade (less thin toward the last 1/3-1/4 pointed quarter). It’s a very good upgrade.
Retention
The pocket clip used on the Corgi V is similar to other Vosteed knives I’ve seen (like the Nightshade and the Raccoon) The pocket clip is a nice deep carry clip. The clip is held in place by two “over/under” TORX screws (around T6, I think).
You can see below that the pocket clip has a nice shoulder and fairly accessible “mouth,” so using the pocket clip is easy. Note that this clip is slightly updated from older versions of the Corgi. It has a better (more refined) bend.
The pocket clip can only be installed in the original position. On the other side, the scale is perfectly smooth all the way to the pivot. Incidentally, this pivot is the button side, too.
A nylon zipper pouch is also included.
Summary and Conclusion
Vosteed is adding knives to their Vanchor lineup. It’s a neat locking mechanism and fits the Corgi model nicely. Of course, I love the orange scales, and appreciate that they’re aluminum – the Vosteed Corgi V knife is nice and stiff. The Vosteed Corgi V knife is a great size, too. It’s a nice little knife.
