Look
Aside from the slim aspect of the Vosteed Porcupine TiSlim Acid Wash knife, check out the look of this knife! The acid wash across the board (scales and blade) is fantastic. This one has some milled pattern. I’m not sure what that depicts (maybe nothing!) but it does add a nice look and a good bit of grip.
I have a non-slim version of the Porcupine. It’s fine, but absolutely does not compare to this Vosteed Porcupine TiSlim Acid Wash knife, both in look and usage. I would say that the other Porcupine is bigger than I like. And this Vosteed Porcupine TiSlim Acid Wash knife is similar in size, but carries so much smaller.
This knife has made me rethink how I feel about “big” knives. It may not be the bigness that I don’t love, it may be the thickness.
Open / Close / Lock
A thumbstud is used to open the Vosteed Porcupine TiSlim Acid Wash knife.
The Porcupine TiSlim is ambidextrous; there’s a thumbstud on both sides of the blade.
The thumbstud is very accessible, but not in the usual way. The cutouts aren’t that deep, but the scales are so thin that the thumbstuds are easy to get to.
There’s plenty of room on the handle for four fingers.
Or you can choke up a good bit.
When the knife is open, the top liner button lock protrudes accessibly, but still not further than the thumbstuds.
The button is easy to depress, and is very smooth!
The blade is practically a “drop shut” smoothness. It’s very good! It’s possible to flick the knife open by pressing the top liner button.
I love the top liner locks because opening and closing with this button keeps all my digits well out of the pathway of the blade. And I like that! Because I want to keep all my digits.
Build and Feel
This version of Vosteed Porcupine TiSlim uses acid-washed titanium scales. There are other finishes, but in the TiSlim model, the scales are all titanium.
The blade is perfectly centered.
The pivot, as Vosteed says, is a “Caged Ceramic Ball Bearing.” Action is very willing. There’s no blade play at all. This bearing is part of why flicking the knife open while pressing the button is so easy!
There’s a bit of jimping on the spine and also accompanying jimping on the handles near the spine.
Only one side has a TORX bolt in the pivot. The other side is blank.
The Vosteed Porcupine TiSlim Acid Wash knife is a nice-looking knife! But don’t sleep on those other finishes of TiSlim! Every one of the versions is an absolute banger!
The Porcupine TiSlim has minimal branding (which is great), and what’s there is subtle.

Above you can see the Vosteed Porcupine TiSlim Acid Wash knife with the Civivi Elementum in orange G10. I use that knife so much! I haven’t talked about it much yet, but that Spyderco Lil Native is going to be my “nicer” knife size standard (in the same way that I use a Convoy S2+ and Hanko Machine Works Trident as flashlight size references.)
Here’s the knife in hand:
Below you can see the Vosteed Porcupine TiSlim knife with the venerable Convoy S2+. The version below is a custom laser-engraved Convoy S2+ host by GadgetConnections.com. I did a full post on an engraved orange host right here! Or go straight to GadgetConnections.com to buy your Convoy S2+ now!
In the photo above, you may note that the SRM (standard reference material) flashlight for comparison has changed! I used a TorchLAB BOSS 35 for ages. Now, what you can see as the 18350 SRM is the Hanko Machine Works Trident. While I have not reviewed or tested the Gunner Grip version seen here, I have tested a Hanko Machine Works Trident Total Tesseract in brass. I love the Trident, and it’s a striking contrast next to the inexpensive Convoy S2+, which also makes a great standard reference material.
Steel / Cut / Oats
Vosteed states the Porcupine TiSlim blade steel as “S90V.”
Here are some details on that steel:
S90V and S125V Knife Steel – History, Properties, and How to Heat Treat
The drop point blade is acid-washed.
Retention
The pocket clip used on the Porcupine TiSlim is a step up over other Vosteed clips. This is a milled (not bent) clip.
The clip can not be moved to any other position, and is only a tip-up carry. (Those two TORX screws you see below are just backspacer screws, not alternative pocket clip placement screws.
Note that spacious lanyard hole! And it’s even better than just being a lanyard hole – it has cutouts out the back to reduce bulk when you have a lanyard in place. Clever!
Finally, there’s an included nylon hook and loop pouch.
Summary and Conclusion
I love the Vosteed Porcupine TiSlim Acid Wash knife. I said it above, but I want to reiterate: my general dis-love of “big knives” may boil down to bigger knives being thick. This medium-sized knife (3.04″ blade) is perfect, probably because it’s so thin! I love the acid wash finish, and the design on the scales adds a great bit of grip. I love how flickable the button lock makes the Porcupine TiSlim. This knife is just a huge winner for me! And if you’re turned off by the $179 price tag, note that the other versions are much less pricey, at around $139!
