Versions

At least 7 versions of the Vosteed Corgi Pup knife have been made. That even includes one with Ultem handles! Of course, there’s the bigger Corgi, and other variations on this model with different blade shapes, too.

Price

This model of Corgi Pup sells for $59. The Ultem variety is pricier, at $99, though.

Look

It should be abundantly clear if you’ve read any of the other knife posts that I like small knives. I also generally like this knife design. So a small version of the Corgi is right up my alley.

The look of this specific white model of Vosteed Corgi Pup knife is very Stormtrooperish. I don’t “chase” that but it is quite appealing.

The white G10 parts are stark white, and they’ll pick up debris and will become dirty. I’m not sure how easily that’ll clean, but I do think G10 is fairly resilient (so you could wash it, probably.)

There is no detent along the blade pathway to fully open.

Branding on the Vosteed Corgi Pup knife is minimal. Below you can see the brand name on the blade. Above you can see a logo on the pocket clip.

I called it a Stormtrooper, but you could also say it’s a Panda knife. For me, it’s a mega stuff though!

Open / Close / Lock

Mainly, the Vosteed Corgi Pup knife is a flipper. It can be flipped two ways.

The first is what I’d consider a more traditional flipping style. That is flipping with the index finger right over the top of the blade.

Both sides have a flipper “tab” though, so if you have the dexterity to hold the knife in your palm while flipping with your thumb, then this knife is conducive to that. I do not have the dexterity for that, and I cut myself just thinking about it.

Interestingly, because of this design, the knife can stand up on the “cat ears.” That’s a fun feature!

The other way to open the Corgi Pup is probably the best way, but maybe less obvious (and I don’t know the name of this style.) You can disengage the button lock and flick the blade out with a wrist motion. It’s the same action as you’ve seen all the people open Benchmade Axis locks quickly. It’s very good. Also very quick. And conceivably threatening? Nah… Opening the Corgi with a button lock in this way is most (or only?) suitable for right-handed users.

Build and Feel

The Vosteed Corgi Pup is a very straight knife with G10 scales. The G10 provides a great amount of grip while still making the knife very accessible in and out of the pocket.

One thing you might notice (in particular from the photos below) is the base of the blade (that is near the pivot) is the same on both sides. This does mean you’ll have to pay attention to some other aspects of the knife when trying to open it. Otherwise, you’ll hold the knife in such a way that the blade is palm-side. Two things could orient you – the pocket clip and the button lock.

The build quality is very good. But that’s no surprise – all the other Vosteed knives I’ve handled have been great, too. Below, you can (barely) see the backspacer. First, there’s a metal standoff. But the backspacer is matching G10. It’s a nice touch!

I think this sort of looks like a panda!

The blade spine is slightly broken, so it’s not sharp at all. That’s what I’d want, but if you want a knife for striking flint or something, you probably should look at some other knives.

Below you can see the Vosteed Corgi Pup knife with the venerable Convoy S2+. The version below is a custom laser-engraved Convoy S2+ host by GadgetConnections.com. I did a full post on an engraved orange host right here! Or go straight to GadgetConnections.com to buy your Convoy S2+ now!

Also above is the Vosteed Corgi Pup knife beside a TorchLAB BOSS 35, an 18350 light. I reviewed the aluminum version of that light in both 35 and 70 formats. I also reviewed that specific edition, the “Oveready BOSS FT Collector Vintage Brass” 35. I love it!

Below is the Vosteed Corgi Pup knife with the Civivi Elementum. I still use that knife so much! Above the Pup is the regular-size Corgi, too!

Steel / Cut / Oats

Vosteed states the Corgi Pup blade steel as “14C28N.”

Here are the details of that steel:

Along with that blade steel is a full flat grind and a stonewashed finish. It’s a great combo.

The blade shape is “Drop Point” and one of my favorites!

Retention

The pocket clip used on the Corgi is similar to other Vosteed knives I’ve seen (like the Nightshade and the Raccoon) The pocket clip is a nice deep carry clip. The clip is held in place by two “over/under” TORX screws (around T6, I think).

You can see below that the pocket clip has a nice shoulder and fairly accessible “mouth,” so using the pocket clip is easy. Note that this clip is slightly updated from older versions of the Corgi. It has a better (more refined) bend.

The pocket clip can go on either side. There are holes on both sides but also the pocket clip is built into the handles. That’s what I prefer. Vosteed also includes a color-matching blank for the side that doesn’t have the clip.

A nylon zipper pouch is also included.

Summary and Conclusion

Vosteed seems to have answered my request for a smaller version of the Corgi by producing this Corgi Pup! It’s fantastic. I love that there are many colorways, including orange. (Unfortunately, the orange has a satin blade and accents – better would be the orange body with all the black accents from this Vosteed Corgi Pup knife). But the 2.37″ blade length on this Pup is great. The action is great. The opening options are great. Even the price is great! The Vosteed Corgi Pup knife is a great way to check out these button Trek lock knives!
