Look
This version of the Vosteed Thunderbeast acid wash knife has acid wash titanium handles. They’re very nice!
I’m not sure a knife name has ever matched a knife design better than the name Thunderbeast matches this design. It’s channeling ThunderCats in exactly the right way, and I love it.
The handles aren’t replete with grip, but the shaped contour does work just fine.
There’s minimal branding on the Vosteed Thunderbeast acid wash knife.
There’s a fancy backspacer in a matching acid wash titanium.
Open / Close / Lock
The Vosteed Thunderbeast acid wash knife opens primarily by a couple of flipper options. The more prominent flipper would be used with a thumb (if you’re slippery enough to manage that without cutting your body off).
The more conventional flipper is smaller but works flawlessly.
The index flipper has jimping on both faces.
A third way to open the Vosteed Thunderbeast acid wash knife is by this gigantic middle finger flipper hole. This is also a very easy way to open the knife, if you have the dexterity.
The final way is to simply use the locking mechanism. Just press the Vanchor lock and flip the knife open.
The handles are long enough so that most people will probably be able to get all 4 fingers worth of grip.
And if you have big ol meaty hands, you can choke up and hold within the choil.
The Vanchor presses in one mm or two to unlock the knife. It’s a very good mechanism! Both Vanchor knives I’ve had have been somewhat thick, but the proportions of the Vosteed Thunderbeast acid wash knife make the Vanchor thickness very normal.
Build and Feel
This is a $250 knife, so you should expect nice quality. And you get it! The Vosteed Thunderbeast acid wash knife feels very solid and high quality. Caged ceramic ball bearings are used in the pivot.
The handles are titanium, but still skeletonized to reduce weight (or maybe increase stiffness, or maybe both!)

Above, you can see the Vosteed Thunderbeast acid wash knife with the Civivi Elementum in orange G10. I use that knife so much!
Here’s the knife in hand:
Below you can see the Vosteed Thunderbeast acid wash knife with the venerable Convoy S2+. This is a brass version, which is a good bit heavier than aluminum, but has the same dimensions: 24mm in diameter by 117.5mm in length.
Also in the photo above, my Standard Reference Material (SRM) flashlight is the Hanko Machine Works Trident, an 18350 light. While I have not reviewed or tested the Gunner Grip version seen here, I have tested a Hanko Machine Works Trident Total Tesseract in brass. I love the Trident, and it’s a striking contrast to the inexpensive Convoy S2+, another great SRM.
Steel / Cut / Oats
The Vosteed Thunderbeast acid wash knife uses M390 steel and has a reverse tanto blade shape.
If you want more info about M390 steel, you can click on KnifeSteelNerds.com. There you will find all of the info!
The blade offers a flat grind and, in this case, a stonewash finish.
The top edge of the blade is also designed. It is flat, but the blade is thick enough that there are still some angles cut. It looks great!
According to coltellimania.com, which produced this image, the Vosteed Thunderbeast acid wash knife does appear to have a reverse tanto blade.
Retention
A pocket clip is included. It allows only tip-up carry.
The clip is not reversible or movable to any other spot. But it’s not your standard bent metal, two-screw clip. It carries very tight, and because of the knife proportions, the clip allows very deep carry, too.
A lanyard loop is built into the scales and goes through the backspacer.
This Vosteed doesn’t include a carry pouch, but it does have this beefy plastic latching case. It’s orange and black, so obviously vastly superior to anything else.
Summary and Conclusion
The Vosteed Thunderbeast acid wash knife is a good bit bigger knife than I normally carry. And it retains the Vanchor thickness, but both of those play well together: the proportions are just right. There are plenty of opening options. The index finger flipper is very easy, for example. It’s a full titanium knife and carries that cost, at $249, but the acid wash handles and stonewash reverse tanto blade all make it very worth considering!
