Versions
Ten or so versions of the Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim knife are available. This is the acid wash blue and black stonewash, but there are other blade colors and handle finishes available too. It’s right there in the name (TiSlim) – all of these are titanium. There are many other versions of the Raccoon, though, including various locks and sizes.
Price
This version of the Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim knife costs $178, but the price ranges from $135 to $179.

Look
This version of the Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim knife has the familiar “acid wash” finish (seen on this site before in the Porcupine TiSlim). I love this look! It’s better than a look, though, as the pattern provides extra grip, too!
This knife (and the other three TiSlims I now have) has made me rethink how I feel about “big” knives. It may not be the bigness that I don’t love; it may be the thickness. In other words, this knife isn’t small (3.18″ blade), but being so thin (0.315″) means it carries almost invisibly!
There’s minimal branding.
There’s a fancy ribbed backspacer in a complementary blue color.
Open / Close / Lock
A thumbstud is used to open the Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim knife. Even the thumbstud is slim!
The Raccoon TiSlim is ambidextrous; there’s a thumbstud on both sides of the blade.
The thumbstud is very accessible, but not in the usual way. The cutouts aren’t that deep, but the scales are so thin that the thumbstuds are easy to get to.
The handles are long enough so that most people will probably be able to get all 4 fingers’ worth of grip.
And if you have big ol meaty hands, you can choke up and hold within the choil.
Build and Feel
At $178, you should expect nice quality. The Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim knife is high quality and slim. Caged ceramic ball bearings are used in the pivot.
Blade centering is perfect.
One side of the pivot is blank.
But the other can be adjusted using a TORX driver.
The handles are titanium, but still skeletonized to reduce weight (or maybe increase stiffness, or maybe both!)

And here’s a bonus view. The point of this slim knife isn’t shown in the two comparison photos above, but is much more apparent below. Neither the Spyderco Lil Native nor the Civivi Elementum are unusually thick.
Above, you can see the Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim knife with the Civivi Elementum in orange G10. I use that knife so much!
Here’s the knife in hand:
Below you can see the Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim knife with the venerable Convoy S2+. This is a brass version, which is a good bit heavier than aluminum, but has the same dimensions: 24mm in diameter by 117.5mm in length.
Also in the photo above, my Standard Reference Material (SRM) flashlight is the Hanko Machine Works Trident, an 18350 light. While I have not reviewed or tested the Gunner Grip version seen here, I have tested a Hanko Machine Works Trident Total Tesseract in brass. I love the Trident, and it’s a striking contrast to the inexpensive Convoy S2+, another great SRM.
Here’s one more in-hand photo. The Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim knife is just so slim!!
Steel / Cut / Oats
The Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim knife uses S35VN steel and has a drop point blade shape.
Here’s what everydaycommentary says about S35VN:
Its S35VN steel, which at this point is still a very good steel, but is clearly a cost savings measure.
That was in the context of a much more expensive knife, so I have no issues at all with this knife being S35VN. If S35VN is a budget steel, it’s reasonable to use it on a “budget” knife.
EverydayCommentary says elsewhere about S35VN “its actually pretty good.”
Even if it’s a tradeoff for price considerations, the slimness of the Raccoon TiSlim is just so good…
The blade offers a flat grind and, in this case, a black finish.
The top edge of the blade has a lot of (but not full) jimping. It’s fine – I don’t love or hate this, but I haven’t found that I need it here.
According to coltellimania.com, which produced this image, the Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim knife does appear to have a drop point blade.
Retention
A pocket clip is included. It allows only tip-up carry.
The clip is reversible. It’s not your standard bent metal, two-screw clip. It carries very tight, and because of the knife proportions, the clip allows very deep (and invisible) carry, too.
A lanyard loop is built into the scales and goes through the backspacer. Below you can also see the “blank” included in the spot where the clip isn’t.
This Vosteed includes a standard carry pouch.
Summary and Conclusion
I love all these slim Vosteed knives. The Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim knife is great because I love a crossbar lock and easy to open with the thumbstuds, specifically because the knife is so thin. Even though the Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim knife has a >3″ blade, it carries invisibly in the pocket. Despite that, I’d welcome a mini version at say, 2.75″. If the $178 of this gorgeous acid wash version puts you off, do consider the various $138 versions!
